Hyderabad: The High Court on Thursday granted an interim relief to RTC’s licenced stall owners, permitting them to sell branded water bottles of including that of Bisleri in bus stations till the expiry of their lease.

A division bench comprising acting Chief Justice Ramesh Ranganathan and Justice Shameem Akhter was hearing a batch of writ appeals challenging an order of single judge who had dismissed their petitions challenging an RTC circular compelling them to sell only water bottles of the Bisleri at bus stations.

The bench said that the stall owners could sell water bottles certified by FSSAI. Those who do not have permission may sell water bottles by paying additional licence fee.

RTC counsel told the court that in view of complaints received from passengers on the quality of water, it had invited open tenders for a tie-up and Bisleri had emerged as a successful bidder.
