Hyderabad: Friends allege K Devi was murdered

On Wednesday night, Devi's friends carried out a candlelight march at KBR Park claiming that Devi was murdered.

Hyderabad: Friends and family members of B.Tech student K. Devi came out on Wednesday seeking justice for the student and punishment for the culprits. Devi was killed in a car accident near journalist colony early on Sunday morning.

On Wednesday night, Devi’s friends carried out a candlelight march at KBR Park claiming that Devi was murdered. Her friends have also started a social media campaign. A Facebook page called ‘Devi’s cry for help’ with nearly 2,000 followers, has gone live.

Meanwhile, police questioned Bharath Simha Reddy, 23, who was in the car with Devi when the crash occurred. Reddy, who was driving the car escaped with minor injuries. Devi’s parents claimed that Bharath Reddy must have harmed their daughter and that the accident was a cover-up.

Early on Sunday, a car driven by Bharath Reddy, was found rammed into a tree near Journalist Colony in Jubilee Hills. Devi was already dead and Bharath Reddy had sustained minor injuries. Residents of Huda Enclave claim they saw the car parked in front of their gate minutes before the accident and the girl was screaming for help. Eyewitnesses also add they saw Devi run out of the car to escape from someone but was dragged in. Devi’s parents claim it was Bharath who had pulled her back into the car.
