Telangana releases water for Krishna district needs
Vijayawada: On the directions of the Krishna River Management Board, the Telangana state government released 4,000 cusecs of water to the Nagarjunasagar Left canal in Krishna district from Paleru Reservoir on Thursday.
AP water resources department’s state apex committee member Alla Gopala Krishna Rao said that they met the TS chief engineer several times and appealed to the TS government to release 1500 cusecs per day to meet the drinking water needs for zones 2 and 3 of the Nagarjunasagar Left Canal located in Krishna district.
He said that the three-man committee of the Krishna River Management Board directed the TS government on March 14 to release about 3 tmc ft of water for zones 2 and 3.
Following this, TS chief engineer V. Narasimha ordered officials to release 4,000 cusecs from Paleru.
