Thiruvananthapuram: UDF has decided to support the agitation of the Vayalkilikal against building a national highway stretch through paddy fields. This was decided at the meeting of UDF high power committee meeting held here on Wednesday
Opposition Leader Ramesh Chennithala while speaking to reporters here said that the government should also considered the anxieties raised by the people of the area before acquiring the land for development projects.
There are differences leaders withing the UDF over the issue with V.M. Sudheeran backing protesters when he along with his party colleagues Benny Behanan and K. Sudhakaran and RSP leader Shibu Baby John had visited Vayalkilikal last Sunday.
UDF has also decided to organise a protest against the petroleum price hike and also on the failure of the LDF government to forgo the additional tax on petroleum products to reduce the burden of the common man on April 9.
