Hyderabad: 7-year-old made commissioner'
Hyderabad: In a humanitarian gesture, Rachakonda Police commissioner Mahesh M. Bhagwat allowed a seven-year-old D. Ishan, suffering from life threatening ailment, to take charge as the commissioner for a day, a desire the little one had been holding close to his heart.
“Make a Wish Foundation approached me last week, with the request to make the child commissioner for a day. On Wednesday finally, we got to make this happen,” said the Commissioner
“Earlier parents used to scare children using the term police. But I am happy that the younger generation is aspiring to take to this profession,” he added. For Ishan, donning the police uniform and sitting on the Commissioner’s chair with all smiles was indeed rejuvenating, and instilled some confidence in him.
The boy was given a police uniform with his name badge. Mr Bhagwat made the child sit on his chair and felicitated him, and later took him around to meet the media. As a resident of Medak and Class II student, Ishan had come to the Commissioner’s office with his father Chand Pasha, a painter, and his mother Hasina.
