Telangana, parts of Rayalaseema see abnormal readings
Hyderabad: The state of TS and parts of the Rayalseema region experienced abnormally hot days during the month of March. In fact, the readings here were similar to what weather experts noticed in the North of India.
In Hyderabad too, many days in March saw temperatures peaking at 39°C to 40°C – even crossing the 400C mark on three days. The forecast ahead is not good either. The Indian Meteorological Department has announced higher temperatures during April too.
Y.K. Reddy, the director of the Indian Meteorolo-gical Department, Hyderabad, said, “Though the state did not undergo a heat wave, unlike the northern states, the day temperatures were abnormally high in March this year. A majority of districts, including Hyderabad, recorded temperatures that were three to four degrees above normal. These readings are not normal at all for the month of March.”
Mr Reddy has said there is no specific reason behind the peaking temperatures here but added that “we can link it to climate change and global warming”. At present, there is a trend of rising temperatures not just globally but even at local levels.
