Gaikwad' those who ask for a bribe: KT Rama Rao

While bribe-taking must be condemned, a responsible public figure should not encourage violence.

Hyderabad: The man who could be the state’s next Chief Minister has recommended that the public should indulge in some Gaikwad-like behaviour and beat with a slipper anyone who asks for a bribe.

During a tour of Divitipalli village in Mahbubnagar district on Tuesday, municipal administration minister K.T. Rama Rao said, “If a broker or leader demands Rs 10,000-Rs 20,000 for allotment of a double-bedroom house, slipper them. It’s not a brokers’ rule here. KCR will give the houses free of cost to eligible poor but not like what the Congress did.”

Officials will help you in 2BHK houses, says KTR
Municipal minister K.T. Rama Rao has recommended that the public should indulge in some Gaikwad-like behaviour and beat with a slipper anyone who asks for a bribe.

While bribe-taking must be condemned, a responsible public figure should not encourage violence. Mr Rao inspected the ongoing work of constructing 930 double bedroom houses and interacted with the beneficiaries.

“You don’t have to run around for sanction of houses or for any other related matter. Officials will come to you. Double bedroom houses are being provided to poor to give them self-respect in society. Unfortunately, the Opposition is unable to digest such a good programme and is indulging in baseless allegations,” he said.

The minister said in the past 33 months, the TRS government has initiated several developmental works, and claimed that the “Opposition has no right to criticise the government on the developmental front”.

He said the Congress government in the past had provided “just one bedroom houses which were congested. They painted the tricolour on the houses. Keeping in view the family requirement of the poor, KCR has constructed 2BHK houses.”

More houses are being constructed for the poor in TS than in any other state, he added. Panchayat raj minister Jupally Krishna Rao, Mahbubnagar MP, A.P. Jitender Reddy, Mahbubnagar MLA Srinivas Goud, and others participated in the programmes.

Mr Rao also said that for the welfare of poor girls, the government has enhanced the Kalyana Lakshmi scheme amount to Rs 75,000. He conducted a bhumi-puja for a substation in Wanaparthy.
