Vellore: The Ministry of Human Resources Development (HRD) on Monday ranked VIT University as the best private engineering institution in the country.
This is the first time that the Government of India has ranked institutions in the country. Overall, including all the government institutions, the VIT has been ranked 13th best engineering institution in the country with a score of 74.40.
Eleven IITs and one NIT rank above VIT. The ministry also noted that the VIT's management programme had also performed very well by scoring all India rank no.17. The top 20 of the management programme list is dominated by the IIMs'. The ranking was done on the basis of the parameters including research, professional practice & collaborative performance, graduation outcomes, outreach and perception.
Speaking about the achievement, VIT University's founder-chancellor, Dr G. Viswanathan said, "this achievement has been possible because of the continued dedication and hard work of our faculty, staff and our talented students and alumni.
