RJD names Mohammad Shahbuddin in core team

The issue snowballed into a controversy after Mohammad Shahbuddin's name was included into the list.

Patna: The BJP on Monday left no stone unturned in accusing the grand secular alliance government led by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for patronizing hardened criminals in the state. The state government faced strong opposition after RJD one of key partners of the state government inducted Mohammad Shahbuddin into the national executive of the party.

Senior BJP leaders including former deputy CM Sushil Modi and party MP Giriraj Singh slammed the government and asked Nitish Kumar to “explain why his government was lenient in acting against hardened criminals”. The BJP leaders while referring to incidents of crime which had rocked the state in past few months said, “Giving patronage to criminals has been the culture of Lalu Yadav and his party”.

Sushil Kumar Modi who had earlier blamed Nitish Kumar for working under Lalu Yadav’s pressure on Monday said, “If only Nitish Kumar had not been working under pressure of Lalu Yadav and his family he would have removed the RJD minister who had met Shahabuddin in Siwan Jail”. He said, “How can anyone expect investors to come to a state where the government openly patronizes people with criminal background”. The issue snowballed into a controversy after Mohammad Shahbuddin’s name was included into the list of RJD’s national executive which was released on Monday.
