Governor unhappy with government reply on Manipaddy report
Bengaluru: Governor, Vajubhai Vala has reportedly expressed his displeasure over the government’s lackadaisical defence of its controversial decision not to table the Anwar Manippady report on encroachment of wakf properties in the Legislative Council during the budget session.
Mr Vala expressed his displeasure in a reply sent in response to the 12-page defence presented by the government.
During the recent budget session, Legislative Council chairman D.H. Shankaramurthy had directed the government to table the Anwar Manippady report. However, the government did not obey the ruling given by the presiding officer.
Meanwhile, the Bharatiya Janata Party approached the governor who sought a report from the government. The government in its report said it had rejected the Anwar Manippady report before tabling the action taken report on the Manippady report that went into the encroachment of wakf properties.
Mr Vala in unequivocal terms, said that he was not satisfied with the defence of the government. He said that the state government while defending its stance, had wrongly interpreted the Minority Commission Act.
