MAUD lines up Intl Women’s Day programmes from March 8

Hyderabad: The municipal administration and urban development (MA&UD) department on Sunday announced that it would organise a week of programmes from March 8 commemorating International Women’s Day. MAUD minister K.T. Rama Rao directed officials to prepare an action plan to highlight the importance of women power and their role in society.

The department has lined up programmes which will involve women public representatives, members of self-help groups, sanitary workers and NGOs.

Women achievers would be felicitated, special health camps and cultural programmes would be held.

An exhibition of products manufactured by women SHGs in urban areas would also be organised.

Special seminars would be organised on women health, security and empowerment in order to create awareness among women. Extending more interest-free loans are also part of the weeklong programme, he said.

The minister issued specific instructions to officials to conduct programmes inviting senior women officials from different departments, district collectors, women police officers and judges.
