BMTC experiments with new routes on IT stretch

The new 505-R route will originate and terminate at Electronics City Wipro campus in a clockwise direction.

Bengaluru: The Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation, which is under loss after Metro Rail started functioning, wants to increase its passengers. To attract commuters, particularly techies, BMTC is ready to operate clockwise and anti-clockwise routes to IT corridors.

The new 505-R route will originate and terminate at Electronics City Wipro campus in a clockwise direction. The bus will start from the campus and pass through Hosa Road, Kasavanahalli, Kai—kondrahalli, Dod—dakannalli, New Horizon College, Iblur, HSR Layout, Haraluru, Kudlu, Hosa Road and terminate at Electronic City Wipro campus. Route no. 505-RA will operate anti-clockwise.

“Earlier, we had similar routes, like 500 and 500 A (Banashankari to Banas—hankari) which were the longest.We are plying the new routes to help commuters," a BMTC senior official told Deccan Chronicle.

The other route, 500 CC, will operate from Carmelaram Railway Station, passing through Doddakannalli, Kadubeesanahalli, Bellandur Gate and Kaikondrahalli.
