Bengaluru: Contractor held for firing in air

On Sunday evening, two groups had a drunken brawl over a trivial issue outside a bar on Vatal Nagaraj Road.

Bengaluru: The Rajajinagar police on Monday arrested a 29-year-old civil contractor for opening two rounds of fire in the air to scare a rival group of men who came to his house on Sunday night to attack him.

The arrested contractor, Manoj, is a resident of Rajajinagar. The police have seized his licensed pistol and requested the officials to cancel his arm licence.

On Sunday evening, two groups had a drunken brawl over a trivial issue outside a bar on Vatal Nagaraj Road. The group that Manoj was part of beat up the other group. Two men, Adarsh and Mukesh, who are part of a Kannada organisation, sustained injuries.

Soon after hearing the news, Adarsh's associates gathered and went to Manoj's house along to retaliate. Manoj who sensed trouble fired two rounds in the air to save himself and his family.

The residents who heard the gun shots immediately alerted the police who rushed to the spot and arrested Adarsh and Arvind Babu.

The Rajajinagar police have booked Manoj under various sections of arms act and have remanded all three of them to judicial custody.
