Edapaddi K Palanisami launches slew of schemes
Chennai: Chief Minister Edapaddi K. Palanisami inaugurated infra and civic projects worth Rs 1,486 crore for northern districts of Tamil Nadu including Chennai, Kancheepuram, Vellore, Cuddalore and Tiruvannamalai.
He launched projects in various sectors including power, state highways, municipal administration, fire service and housing ministry. He also laid the foundation stone for projects estimated to a tune of Rs 111.03 crore.
In his address, the Chief Minister pointed out that his government would implement all schemes and announcements made by the former chief minister
J. Jayalalithaa.
“On my first day of office as chief minister I inaugurated five schemes aimed at empowering the TN public. All these five schemes including provision of subsidised motorbikes for women and increase in maternity assistance were all brainchild of Jayalalithaa,” he noted.
Schemes have been formulated in lines with Amma’s philoshophy of ‘I am because of people, I am for the People’ and are aimed at addressing the needs of the poor,” the chief minister said.
He said his government will work towards fulfilling people’s needs and address the public issues at grass root. He also sought the cooperation of public for his government, which was working in lines with Jayalalithaa’s “Peace, Prosperity and Progress” theme.
Elaborating the steps taken by his government to handle the current drought situation, he said the state had allocated a special package scheme of '2,247 crore to help farmers in crisis and take up water augmenting schemes in all drought hit districts. Senior ministers and state chief secretary Girija Vaidyanathan attended the first gala event of chief minister Palanisami.
