Death toll in Ayoor mishap climbs to four
Kollam: The death toll in the bus accident near Ayoor here has gone up to four with one more victim succumbing to her injuries.
Shahana Habeeb, 27, of Kottapurath Veedu, Parakkulam, Adoor, died in a hospital on Saturday. Three others, Remya Varkey, 27, of Kuruppampadi in Ernakulam, Romy Varghese, 26, of Chenneerkara in Pathanamthitta, and Lince Thomas, 26, of Pathanamthitta had died Friday night.
All of them were working at Technopark-based IT companies. The accident took place around 7 pm when a private bus lost control and rammed into a KSRTC superfast bus at Kambankode along the MC Road near Ayoor.
The superfast was heading towards Angamali from Technopark campus in Thiruvananthapuram while the private bus ‘Janatha’ was heading towards Attingal.
The speeding private bus took a sharp turn towards its right to hit against the KSRTC bus on its side, completely damaging it.
Forty passengers, mostly women, were injured in the accident and the condition of eight remains critical.
The injured were admitted to hospitals like Government Medical College, Thiruvanantha-puram, Gokulam Medical College Venjaramoodu, Kottarakkara Taluk Hospital, and Anchal Mission Hospital.
