Will not allow encroachment in Sankey Tank: Siddaramaiah
Bengaluru: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Friday assured the Legislative Assembly that the state government would not allow any encroachment to take place on Sankey Tank bed area in the city.
Responding to the Opposition Leader Jagadish Shettar’s observations, Mr Siddaramaiah said, “The state government was committed to protect tanks from being encroached by anyone in the state, including the issue raised by Mr Shettar. Let him produce documents pertaining to encroachment of tank bed area in Sankey Tank, the state government will not hesitate to act against anyone, including the Mantri Developers.”
Earlier while speaking on motion of thanks on Governor’s speech, Mr Shettar had raised issue of alleged encroachment of seven acres by Mantri in Sankey Tank bed area near Sadashiva Nagar. He alleged that several government officials were in hand in glove with Mantri to facilitate the latter to encroach this prime property, worth several hundred crores.
Intervening at this juncture, Speaker Kagodu Thimmappa angrily reacted that the state government should not allow such encroachments to take place right under its nose. “The state government should always be watchful such elements, who always pining take away such properties by conniving with officials,” he said and added that the state government should find solution in this case within three days.
