Tamil Nadu BJP leaders go into a huddle
Chennai: Even as snide remarks abounded all over on their Central emissary Prakash Javadekar’s failure to woo the DMDK, the state BJP leaders went into huddle at party headquarters, Kamalalayam, to “discuss the present political scenario”—which actually is a polite way of saying they shared their anguish at the prospect of being drowned in the coming state polls.
The session presided over by Union minister Pon Radhakrishnan and state party president Dr Tamilisai Sounderarajan had national executive member L Ganesan and state vice-president Vanathi Srinivasan, besides a few others.
“We had a meeting of senior state BJP leaders. We discussed the present political scenario”, she told DC. Asked about the status of her party’s Mission Captain, she quipped, “The talks with DMDK are being handled by Prakash Javadekar.
The Central leadership is handling the allies. We (state unit) are engrossed with election work, such as receiving applications for party tickets and selecting the candidates”. Sounding proud, she said Kamalalayam received as many as 1,350 applications for tickets on the first day itself. The two-day affair will close Saturday evening.
The saffronites, it appears, are closely aping the Dravidian politicians in loathsome sycophancy, be it in exhibiting garish posters-banners or filing nominations for tickets in the name of their satraps.
