Farmers to stage sit-in protest in front of BJP office
Chennai: Tamil Nadu All Farmers’ Coordination Committee coordinator P.R. Pandian on Friday announced that the farmers would stage an indefinite sit-in protest in front of BJP office from March 15 if the Centre fails to fulfil their demands.
After returning from New Delhi staging a human chain protest highlighting various issues facing the state farmers, Mr Pandian told reporters at the Central railway station that the Centre should act on their demands including stopping Kerala government from constructing parking facility in Mullaiperiyar.
The struggle in the national capital was to highlight the issues including constitution of the Cauvery Management Board, Cauvery Water Regulation and Monitoring Authority, dropping plan to build reservoirs across the Cauvery at Mekedatu and Rasimanal, extending CISF security to the Mullaperiyar Dam, among other subjects.
