Beautification around canals and tanks soon in Nellore
Nellore: In a bid to transform the canals and tanks located close to Nellore as tourist attractions for the benefit of the denizens as well as those coming from outside to enjoy during their holidays, district administration has hired a Hyderabad-based consultancy firm recently at the instance of district collector M. Janaki.
The collector along with irrigation SE Subba Rao and the members of consultancy firm, Pridhvi Raj and Anil Kumar inspected Nellore tank, Sarvepalle and Krishnapatnam canals besides Kanigiri reservoir near Buchireddypalem on Friday.
The collector said that they have initiated measures to give a facelift to tanks in the district under irrigation department to attract tourists.
Impressed by the beauty of nature in and around Kanigiri reservoir, which attracts large number of people living in its vicinity during weekends, she underlined the need for providing various amenities to draw people from others parts of the district and neighbouring districts.
Reminding that denizens of Nellore have no place to go with their children during holidays except Children's Park in Nellore, she told the consultants to prepare designs for landscaping around Nellore tank, Krishnapatnam (Muthu-kur) and Sarvepalle canals to transform them as most attractive destinations.
The collector also visited Tikkana Park located on the banks of Pennar River and the barrage cum bridge coming up on Pennar River at Nellore along with the team. She said that the consultancy firm would submit an action plan to develop the irrigation tanks and canals within next 15 days and it will be sent to the government for approval.
