Telangana: Civil supplies department plans to help farmers

The department organised a training programme for its officers to prepare an action plan for the next year for paddy procurement.

Hyderabad: The civil supplies department is drafting plans to set up a business wing through which the foodgrains that it purchases from farmers would be exported after milling.

The department organised a training programme for its officers to prepare an action plan for the next year for paddy procurement, on Monday. The department expects the paddy yield to keep on increasing year after year, given the improved irrigation facilities, power supply and farmer welfare schemes. The department would have to purchase the paddy coming to the market and the staff was ordered to draw up an action plan for the same.

The department is drawing up plans to make sure that the farmer gets minimum support price for his paddy and for this a business wing would be established to explore the possibilities of export.
