Nellore: YSRC men try to take credit for hiking monthly pensions

The YSRC leaders also found fault with the state govt for distributing Rs 10,000 to the SHGs without mentioning if it is a loan or a gift.

Nellore: Upset with the patronage tp the ongoing distribution of hiked pensions and cheques to every SHG member under ‘Pasupu-Kumkuma’ scheme in a festival atmosphere, YSR Congress functionaries have been trying their best to get credit to Jagan for the recent hike in social welfare pensions. They are also trying to undermine the distribution of Rs 10,000 for women SHG members under the scheme.

“If not for Jagan Mohan Reddy’s promise to double the sum of monthly pensions to various social groups, if he comes to power, CM Chandrababu Naidu would not have increased the amount,” Sarveypalli MLA Kakani Govardhan Reddy said.

The YSRC leaders also found fault with the state government for distributing Rs 10,000 to the SHGs without mentioning if it is a loan or a gift.

To score a point over the TD, they also reminded that Mr Chandrababu Naidu ignored the loan waiver for SHGs and that he was yet to release the 4th and 5th instalments of loan waiver to the farmers.

“Many SHGs became defunct even if one member became defaulter. As a result, the other group members have been losing the benefit now. Moreover, a large number of SHGs’ accounts turned as NPAs because they failed to repay the loans, expecting there would be a waiver to take care of their outstanding dues. The groups have also been deprived of pavala vaddi (0.25 paise) because of this. Now, the banks will recover the outstanding dues, because the Rs 10,000 amount will go to the same account,” Mr Govardhan Reddy asserted. He said “Mr Naidu should issue cheques to alternative accounts, if he has real affection towards the Dwcra members. If not for the ensuing elections, he would not have announced sops for anyone.”
