Kozhikode: Traders ready for talks before stir

KVVES president T. Nassuruddin said they would seek its cooperation as they had always supported its cause.

KOZHIKODE: The Kerala Vyapari Vyavasayi Ekopana Samithi (KVVES) and the Kerala Vyapari Vyavasayi Samithi (KVVS) have decided to go for a final meeting with the district administration before their indefinite strike from February 15 demanding the opening of the renovated SM Street to vehicles.

KVVES president T. Nassuruddin said they would seek its cooperation as they had always supported its cause."We have raised the demand many times, but to no avail," he said.

"We had lent our full support when they closed the street for the renovation, but never thought it would bring us hardship.

"Converting a market space into a walking street would never be possible as it hinders our business and we have already incurred significant losses due to entry restrictions between 10 a.m. and 10 pm It's been a year now, and we will not be able to follow this’’
