Kerala police to seek Ravi Pujari custody

Police sources said that seeking custody will be a long process as Pujari has a number of cases registered against him in the country.

KOCHI: Ernakulam Range IG Vijay Sakhare said on Monday that the state police will seek the custody of Ravi Pujari, who was arrested from Senegal a few days ago, when he is extradited to India.

"The arrest of Ravi Pujari in Senegal has been confirmed. As he is the prime accused in the beauty parlour firing case, the state police will seek his custody when he is brought to India. The extradition process is going on," Mr. Sakhare said.

Police sources said that seeking custody will be a long process as Pujari has a number of cases registered against him in the country. "The Interpol has issued a Red Corner notice against him. As he is wanted in a number of cases, including extortion and threat calls to prominent personalities, getting him in custody in this case may take a long time," a source said.

During the arrest made in Senegal, West Africa, Pujari was reportedly in possession of a fake passport in the name of Anthony Fernandez.

It was on December 15 two bike-borne miscreants with their faces fully covered walked up to the Nail Artistry beauty salon owned by actress Leena Maria Paul at Panampilly Nagar and fired a few shots from the stairs and sped away.

The police identified Pujari's connection to the incident from a paper left behind by the miscreants with the name of Ravi Pujari, an underworld gangster, written on it.
