Hyderabad: Girl in love with SC community boy killed by dad

Nellore: In a suspected incident of honour killing, a 20-year-old girl was allegedly murdered by her father because she had a relationship with a young man belonging to the SC community, at Kottapalem in Thallur mandal of Prakasam district late on Sunday night.

The victim, Kota Vaishnavi, was doing her second year of BCom at Harshini College in Ongole and was reportedly in a relationship with one Suneel, from the same college.

According to Thallur sub-inspector B. Ranganath, her parents raised a hue and cry when they found out about her relationship, but she was stubborn.

She even left home on January 31 and went to Tirupati to join the SV University College Hostel to be on her own. She skipped her examinations because of her trip to Tirupati, but her boyfriend stayed back and attended the exam.

Vaishnavi’s parents rushed to Tirupati and brought her back the same day. Trouble started when Vaishnavi refused to end her relationship. In a fit of rage, her father Kota Venka Reddy throttled and killed her.

On the spot. He escaped from the scene after the incident. Thallur police registered a case after Village Revenue Officer G. Yalamanda Rao complained.
