Centre scheme to pay Rs 6,000 in 3 parts
Hyderabad: The forthcoming Lok Sabha elections are bringing cheer to Telangana farmers as the state and Central governments compete with each other to pay the investment subsidy they have promised.
The three lakh farmers will get an investment subsidy at the rate of Rs 4,000 per acre from the state government, and will get Rs 2,000 from the Centre under the Central scheme. The Central government scheme mandates payment of Rs 6,000 per year in three installments to small and marginal farmers who have less than five acres of cultivated land.
The BJP-led Central government wants to pay the first installment across the country before the Lok Sabha elections in April-May 2019, hoping that the party gets some political mileage out of it, and so wants the first installment to be paid before the end of March.
