Develop forest blocks: Telangana CM K Chandrasekhar Ra

Hyderabad: Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Sunday mooted the idea of developing ‘forest blocks’ on all sides of the city to conserve environment, ensure clean air to breathe and bring down the pollution level in the city.
Mr Rao said that the vast extent of forest land spread over 1.50 lakh acres is available around the city in the radius of 50 to 60 kms and these land parcels should be developed as forest blocks by taking up mass plantation drives which will improve the green cover.
“There is a need to protect the fast developing and geographically growing Hyderabad city and its neighbouring areas, especially the environment. Developing forest blocks within the radius of 50 to 60 kms of the city will help achieve this goal,” the CM said.
The CM reviewed the progress of development works in the city at a meeting held in Pragathi Bhavan on Sunday. He wanted the Musi River Front and Hyderabad urban forestry to be developed with special focus and assured the department of necessary funding.
The walkway in the Musi River Front should be like the one made in KBR Park. He asked ministers and officials to tour Hyderabad and its surrounding forest areas and study what should be done to develop the area as part of the ‘Save Hyderabad’ campaign.
