Collectors fail to meet Telangana CM's target

The collectors could not accomplish the task at ground level and almost all of them are lying pending.

Hyderabad: Collectors have failed to meet the targets set by Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on major policy decisions of the government.

Mr Rao had held half-a-dozen collectors conferences so far and issued specific directions on major issues like updating land records, identify assigned lands, take back assigned lands under illegal possession, ensure speedy completion of Mission Bhagiratha works, identify suitable lands to in new district headquarters to build integrated collector complexes.

However, the collectors could not accomplish the task at ground level and almost all of them are lying pending. Mr Rao is scheduled to hold the collectors’ conference on Sunday. In this backdrop, Chief Secretary S.P. Singh held a video conference with all district collectors last week.

In the conference it was found that the collectors have even failed to obtain data on assigned lands in their jurisdiction so far. The CS on Saturday directed the collectors to attend conference with all details on assigned lands, progress of Mission Bhagiratha, Mission Kakatiya, registration of sada bainama lands, regularisation of government lands etc to enable the CM take a call on how to go forward for effective results in the coming days.
