BIFFES: Enthusiasts scramble for passes, long queues before theatres
BENGALURU: The third day of Bengaluru International Film Festival (BIFFES) witnessed long queues in front of cinema halls, as it also happened to be a weekend. While most auditoriums have a maximum seating capacities of around 300 and the entry was based on first-come-first basis, long queues were there even one hour prior to show timings.
The demand for delegate passes have also shot up with the organisers limiting them to the registered delegates, members of the film fraternity and others.
"I have been visiting the event for the last two days and have noticed that many of those who have already registered themselves are yet to collect their passes. On the other hand I am ready to pay the requisite amount for the pass, they are not allowing us. They should at least issue daily passes," said Balakrishna, a senior citizen. Another student said she was unaware of the festival and hoped they issue daily passes.
The oragnisers said they would issue a limited number of daily passes from Monday. "We will see the rush and decide on issuing the daily passes from Monday," they said.
Earlier BIFFEs Director and Karnataka Chalanachitra Academy Chairman Dr S.V. Rajendra Singh Babu spoke on how the BIFFES has grown year on year, both the number of movies as well as participants.
He spoke about the vision of BIFFES, which was to give the kind of value that is associated with international film festivals like Cannes. The parking passes issued later in the evening to the registered members also led to chaotic scenes for some time.
