42 injured in Dindigul jallikattu
Thousands of people from 40 villages had gathered to witness the sport, in which the bull-tamers were very enthusiastic.
Madurai: At least 42 people including bull-tamers and spectators sustained injuries in a jallikattu event held at Ulagampatti village near Dindigul on Saturday.
Nearly 600 bulls from various villages in Dindigul district participated in the sport organised for the first time in the district in recent years.
Assistant collector P Askash supervised the event. Thousands of people from 40 villages had gathered to witness the sport, in which the bull-tamers were very enthusiastic.
As more number of people climbed on the gallery, it came down twice causing injuries to the people. No bull sustained injuries in the sport. Only two out of the 40 persons who sustained cut injuries, were treated in the hospital, police said.
