Visakhapatnam: Delegates spellbound by Vizag's beauty
Visakhapatnam: The thousands of foreign naval delegates, who are in Vizag for the International Fleet Review, are enjoying the scenic beauty of the city, sprawling beaches and surrounding tourist spots.
To cool off themselves from the busy IFR schedule, several delegates are visiting various tourist spots in and around the city. Right from shopping complexes and mouth-watering food joints to religious places like Simhachalam and far-off tourist places such as Araku Valley are on the itinerary of many guests.
Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, Ramon Pereira Rubens, a naval delegate from Brazil, who was spotted at Kailasagiri, along with his team, said he was impressed with the beauty of Vizag.
“The city has almost similar features like the Maceió city in Alagoas. When we spectated the beauty of Vizag from the viewpoint at Kailasagiri, we wondered how the city is endowed with such beauty.”
In view of the great importance and pride attached with the IFR, the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC), as well as the Visakhapatnam Urban Development Authority (Vuda), restored the pristine glory of various tourist spots, including the Maritime Museum.
The state archaeological department has taken up the conservation works of some Buddhist spots, including Thotlakonda and Bavikonda to serve as a feast to the eyes of the delegates.
The Navy has readied 500 AC vehicles to ply the guests to various places.
Thotapalli Ramesh, transport manager at the Hospitality Centre, informed that the foreign navy personnel have a liberty to go to the places of their choice and they have to arrange vehicles and other services as per the guests’ wish.
Michael, a delegate from Russia, is all praise for the beauty of Vizag. “I didn’t hear much about the city earlier. But thanks to the IFR, we had arrived in a city that offers nature in abundance and historic places,” he added.
