Not afraid of Lavalin case: Pinarayi Vijayan
KOCHI: In a strong reply to the KPCC president V. M. Sudheeran's open letter, CPM politburo member Pinarayi Vijayan said that he was not afraid of Lavalin case. He charged Mr Sudheeran of having some 'misconceptions in the matter'.
Lashing out at Mr Sudheeran, the CPM leader on Thursday said that a leader like Mr Sudheeran should not make statements based on hearsay.
Stating that he was not an accused in any case, Mr Vijayan said the CBI court had dismissed the case after a detailed hearing two years ago.
"The court, while dismissing the case, had found that there was no ground for framing charges. I went to the court to speed up the trial proceedings," Mr. Vijayan said. It's only because of the coming Assembly elections that the government has approached the High Court two years after the verdict, he added.
Mr Vijayan said Mr Sudheeran is known for his hobnobbing with some bar owners and accused that, for many years, the KPCC president had used a car owned by a bar owner. "This is an open secret even amongst his followers in Thrissur."
Earlier, addressing a meeting in connection with his Nava Kerala Yatra, Mr. Pinarayi questioned the silence of senior congress leader A. K. Antony on solar scam allegations and bar bribery charges faced by the Oommen Chandy government. "The silence of people like Mr. Antony is a reflection of the decadence in Congress," he said.
