Karnataka seeking investments for a slew of infrastructure projects

BENGALURU: The state government is keen on seeking investment for a host of infrastructure projects across the state. Construction of elevated roads, road networks of Karnataka, port development, development of airstrips, airports, eight lane peripheral ring road, development of commercial complexes, developing metro stations and commercial exploration atop metro stations, providing solar energy facility, Satellite Town Ring Road (STRR), Devanahalli Business park, round the clock water supply to Belagavi are some of the projects where the State Government is expecting investors in return for complete co-operation, said Vandita Sharma, Additional Chief Secretary, Infrastructure Development Department on Thursday.
Delivering welcome address at the Invest Karnataka 2016 global summit she said that the investments have also been sought for vibrant Bengaluru and it has been attracting investors for elevated corridors, solid waste management, parking lot development, construction of toilets and skywalks across the city.
Earlier City Development Minister K. J. George said that Karnataka is the best platform for investors to invest and the state government is extending unconditional support. Investors can pick from the 58 different sectors, he said.
Considering the traffic snarls in the city, the state government is keen on supporting suburban train network estimated to cost about Rs 9,000 crore. Besides, elevated corridor estimated to cost Rs 8,000 crore, peripheral ring road estimated to cost Rs 11,950 crore and others are up for grabs.
Countries like Japan, Germany and France have evinced interest in investing on infrastructure projects in the state, Mr George added. East-West and North-South corridors connecting K.R. Puram and Goraguntepalya, Jnanabharati and Varthur Kodi, and North-South corridor connecting Agara with Kalasipalya are the major projects in the city, he said.
