Vijayawada: Cement prices are soon likely to go up by 25 to 30 per bag of 25 kg in Andhra Pradesh.
Cement industry sources say at present, wholesale price of a cement bag is 300–325. Top brands like KCP and L&T cost nearly 350. Manufacturers keep varying the prices from brand to brand by about 10 depending upon demand and supply.
The current retail price of cement is nearly 325–350 per bag.
Realtors say cement factories have stopped taking orders for supply of cement bags in the last 10 days. This indicates an imminent increase in price of cement in a day or two.
The expected rise in price of cement bags will have an impact on construction industry, which is already facing trouble for varied reasons, including rise in prices of construction material and Covid-19.
AP Credai vice president Y.V. Ramana Rao said, "We are expecting rise in cement price by 25–30 per bag shortly."
