The other woman, aged 31 years from West Godavari, also arrived from Oman on December 19. A male person aged 18 years hailing from Krishna arrived on December 23 from Goa. Out of the seven travellers infected with Omicron, one is mildly symptomatic and is in isolation at a hospital. The remaining are healthy and in isolation at home.
State health authorities have traced and tested all their contacts. Samples of all those who have tested Covid positive among them have been sent for genome sequencing to check whether they have been infected with the Omicron variant.
Officials have advised people to follow Covid-appropriate behaviour by wearing masks, maintaining social distancing, washing hands regularly, and avoiding groups in public places, particularly in the forthcoming festive season. Those who are yet to take their Covid jab or their second dose must take these vaccinations immediately, officials underlined.
