Khammam: Teladarpalli, a village in Khammam Rural mandal, should be remembered, ahead of the panchayat elections. The village had been witnessing sarpanch and deputy sarpanch elections in an unanimous way for the last 60 years.

The first elections to the village were held in 1957 and Marri Bhadraiah was elected as the sarpanch unanimously. He was elected sarpanch unanimously for 30 years.

Three persons were killed in the hands of the landlord’s army in Telangana Armed Struggle and six persons belonging to the landlord (Jagirdar) were eliminated in the retaliation.

The farmers of the village occupied the lands of Jagirdar and tilled it. Later, the lands were registered in the name of the farmers by the Jagirdar after receiving some compensation for the land.

After a few years, the village turned out to be a fort to the Communist party and it had gone to the CPM fold after Communist party’s division. The village stood as a political and ideological centre for 10 years and the political ideology of the CPM followed there. There were some disturbances in the village likecaste conflicts and party clashes but the villagers remained unanimous in electing the sarpanch.

CPM leaders Manchikanti Kishan Rao, Ravella Satyanarayana, Bodepudi Venkateswara Rao, Chirravuri Laxmi Narasaiah and K.L. Narasimha Rao extended their support to the villagers whenever needed.

Many farmers in the village grow vegetables and sell it in Rythu Bazaars. The people in the village took up development works in the village with the funds earned as reward for unanimous election of the sarpanch.

The villagers are planning to elect the sarpanch and deputy sarpanch unanimously this time too. In 2018 Assembly elections, the people voted for CPM candidate B. Hymavathi.

Tammineni Kamalamma was elected as the sarpanch unanimously followed by Ankamma, B. Venkanna and B. Biksham, who worked as sarpanch, in the village. This time too the villagers are likely to go for unanimous election.
