Chennai: 2 lawyers arrested for abusing police
Chennai: City police on Friday booked two lawyers who spoke offensive language against the police at the Egmore court.
According to police, sub inspector Arjunan and constable Maheshkumar were escorting around 26 accused from the Puzhal prison to the Egmore court on Wednesday, when two lawyers hugged and started conversing with the accused.
“Arjunan and Maheshkumar confronted the lawyers and asked them not to touch the accused and asked them to speak to the accused from a distance. The two lawyers picked an argument with the police personnel and used obscene language. When one of the police personnel took video of them, the lawyers started threatening them. Based on the complaint by constable Maheshkumar, the Egmore police registered a case under three sections including using obscene language at a public place and stopping a uniformed person from doing his duty.
