Thiruvannthgapuram: The police continued the crackdown on those responsible for violence on hartal day registering 1,108 cases, arresting 1,718 persons and taking 1,009 persons in preventive custody across the state.
The district wise details of the arrested and preventive arrests are given below in same order; Thiruvannathapuram - 17,92, Thiruvanantha-puram rural - 46,4;Kolam city 28,3; Kollam rural 10, 4; Pathanamthitta 94,2; Alappuzha 174,27; Idukki 2,156; Kottayam 35,20; Kochi city 237, 32; Ernakulam rural 233, 14; Thrissur city 151,48; Thrissur rural 6,2; Palakkad 41,83;
Malappuram 35,25, Kozhikode city 28,4, Kozhikode rural 30,9, Wayanad 109,82, Kannur 91,101, Kasargod 2 and 9. More arrests were recorded in different different districts on Friday evening.
The police has already sounded high alert in violence prone Thiruvananthapuram, Thrissur, Palakkad districts, alert in Kollam, Kozhikode and Kannur. The DGP has issued instructions to SPs to intensify the drive against rioters.
A four member squad has been set up in each police station to ideinty the accused and arrest them. Special teams headed SPs are examining the video footage and still photos of persons indulging in violence. This is being done as part of the plan to create a photo and visual album of trouble makers in each district.
