Polavaram: Andhra Pradesh CM happy over positive results
Anantapur: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu confidently said that only his experience and hard efforts were behind getting clarity for Polavaram project along with National status and Nabard loan.
It is historic and will help to irrigate Rayalaseema region even during scarcity of water from Tungabhadra reservoir in the coming days. “The Polavaram could compensate Tungabhadra reservoir if it fails to meet the needs of the region due to silt and rain deficit conditions,” the CM said.
Taking part in the Janmabhoomi programme at Bukkapatnam in the district on Wednesday, the Chief Minister addressing the gathering said he was confined to develop the Rayalaseema region that was reeling under severe drought conditions.
Referring to Muchumarri project in Kurnool district, Mr Naidu observed the project would be the connecting point for Rayalaseema region.
“Two more pumps would be set up at Muchumarri project for pumping more water towards all parts of region,” he announced and added more than 1,260 irrigation tanks in Anantapur district will be filled with Krishna water through Handri Neeva Sujala Shravanthi project.
Krishna water can be diverted even from dead storage level at Srisailam after the Godavari water diverted from Polavaram reservoir in future years, he hoped.
Refuting critics by the Opposition parties pertaining to the Polavaram project, Mr Chandrababu Naidu made a scathing attack that the Opposition party leaders had no political experience but trying to throw stones for political mileage while Telugu Desam is firm on turning out Rayalaseema region with greenish.
“They even criticised senior leader and MP J.C. Diwakar Reddy in worse manner,” Mr Chandrababu Naidu observed while recalling Mr Diwakar Reddy comments on YSRC chief Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy during the Kurnool district meeting on Monday.
Mr Naidu sanctioned Rs 10 crore towards increasing height of Bukkapatnam, biggest tank in the district to store more water. However, the rise in the height will not affect Puttaparthi which is located closer to the big tank.
He also announced an outer ring road connecting Puttaparthi, Kothacheruvu and Bukkapattanam mandal headquarters. Ministers Kamineni Srinivas, Palle Raghunath Reddy and Paritala Sunitha and several MLAs and officials participated.
