No PM meet, K Chandrasekhar Rao returns

Delegation meets Gadkari, asks for NH funds.

Hyderabad: Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao returned to Hyderabad on Tuesday night after attending the marriage reception of Government chief adviser Rajiv Sharma’s son in New Delhi.

There were reports that the Chief Minister will stay for three days and will meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi to represent the pending issues of the State and demand stringent Acts for protection of women in view of the gang-rape and brutal murder of Disha. He was also expected to seek Central funds for TSRTC.

The likelihood of a three-day stay in the national capital was indicated by Mr. Rao himself during the luncheon meeting with the RTC employees on Sunday.

However, the Chief Minister appears to cut short his programme as the media surrounded the Chief Minister’s residence at Thuglak Road with a series of questions, particularly with regard to the gruesome Disha episode.

Meanwhile, a delegation comprising education minister G. Jagadish Reddy, TRS MPs and MLAs met Union minister for road transport and highways Nitin Gadkari in Delhi and requested him to release funds for National Highways in the state.

The delegation handed over letters written by the the Chief Minister to the Prime Minister to Mr Gadkari in this regard.

The letters had also requested for sanctioning of permission for the Regional Ring Road for Hyderabad.

The leaders told Mr Gadkari that injustice was being meted out to Telangana in sanctioning the Highways earlier, though Mr Modi had promised to convert 3,150 km as highways to the state. So far, no numbers have been allocated to more than 600 km, they said.

They brought to the notice of the minister that the roads in the state were badly damaged due to heavy rains and urged the minister to release the funds to repair the damaged roads.
