Disha case: Cops to file watertight chargesheet

It would use forensic reports, clues from the scene and call data records of the accused besides seeking legal assistance to build the case.

Hyderabad: A dozen teams have reportedly been set up by Cyberabad police to pursue the Disha rape-murder case and file a water-tight charge-sheet. The teams will scan CCTV footage for further details on the four accused and trace the route taken by their lorry. It would use forensic reports, clues from the scene and call data records of the accused besides seeking legal assistance to build the case.

Elsewhere, the hearing on the petition of Shadnagar police to take custody of the accused was put off to Wednesday. On Monday, the police had sought 10 days custody of the accused — Mohd Ali alias Arif, J. Shiva, J. Naveen, and C. Chennakeshavulu.

As the local advocates have decided not to take up the case of the accused, they were served notices in this regard on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Shamshabad DCP N. Prakash Reddy and DCP (Traffic) S.M. Vijay Kumar held a meeting on Tuesday with the owners of the petrol pumps located in Shamshabad. They urged officials of municipalities and National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) to increase illumination on medians and at villages along highway and provide separate truck bays so that the vehicles do not wait near the ORR entry gates. Increasing the number of highway patrol vehicles was also discussed.
