Chennai: Students win social entrepreneurship pitch competition

Identifying the need of platform for blood donors, one of the winners presented the idea of creating a donor network and identifying blood donors.

Chennai: Five budding entrepreneurs and students - Divanshu Kumar, Senthil Kumar Gowri Sankar, Chetan N., Ajay Gopi, and Pritish Bhavnani - brought laurels to the city as they emerged top five winners at the social entrepreneurship pitch competition held as part of the Youth Speak Summit 2018 at the Madras Management Association Centre in the city.

Youth Speak Summit 2018, organized by the U.S. Consulate General Chennai and Nalanda Way Foundation, brought together nearly 700 young people from various spheres in one platform to learn, share, and inspire change.

The winners presented innovative ideas such as creating classrooms where students can learn from each other and shifting learning from black board to game board. Identifying the need of platform for blood donors, one of the winners presented the idea of creating a donor network and identifying blood donors.

Other individual ideas such as sensitizing farmers with sensors and monitoring technology; and establishing a self-help group that helps teenagers solve problems on their own were presented by the youngsters.
