Chennai: IIT student missing, father files complaint

According to sources, Rushik Reddy Korrapati(26) a native of Andhra Pradesh, stayed at one of the hostels in IIT Madras.

Chennai: A final year dual-degree (B Tech plus M tech) student at IIT Madras has gone missing since November 27, said police.

According to sources, Rushik Reddy Korrapati(26) a native of Andhra Pradesh, stayed at one of the hostels in IIT Madras. He had not contacted his parents for the last few days and remains untraceable. According to his roommates, he packed his bags and left the hostel on Tuesday stating that he wanted to visit his parents in Andhra Pradesh.

Meanwhile, his father Prabhakar Reddy, a businessman, reached the city on Monday morning and checked for him at the hostel since he had not heard from Rushik since November 27. Reddy was told that his son had taken leave to go to his native place.

After enquiring with Rushik’s friends, Reddy lodged a missing complaint with the Kotturpuram police station. According to the complaint, the student had neither reached home nor made any calls, even to his friends. Preliminary inquiries with his friends revealed that he had not shared any personal issues with them. He appeared normal, they told the police.

The police are trying to track his whereabouts with the help of his cellphone number.
