It speaks volumes about Simha's culture: CM Siddaramaiah

Siddaramaiah on Sunday criticized Mysuru-Kodagu MP Pratap Simha for barging into a police barricade in Mysuru.

BENGALURU: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Sunday criticized Mysuru-Kodagu MP Pratap Simha for barging into a police barricade in Mysuru on Sunday and said his behaviour does not suit his status.

The Chief Minister told reporters here on Sunday, "Being a Lok Sabha member, he should have respect for the law of the land. Neither the state government nor the state police banned Hanuma Jayanti, but the state police had asked the procession organizers to take a detour, which should have been respected by him. Instead he chose to drive rashly and barged into police barricades. It speaks volumes about his culture."

An angry Siddaramaiah remarked whether the state BJP President, B. S. Yeddyurappa, will approve of such a behavior from a public representative? "If public representative does not respect law of the land, who will have respect for it?," he added.

"We too celebrate Rama Navami or Hanuma Jayanti, but not by disturbing communal harmony. It seems that the BJP and its leaders seem to have made up their mind to unleash communal disturbances at various levels in the state, ahead of Assembly elections in 2018. We (Congress) will not allow them to succeed in their machinations."
