GHMC focus on Durgam Cheruvu

Hyderabad: The GHMC will form an action team to raze illegal structures near Durgam Cheruvu and book violators, GHMC commissioner Dr B. Janardhan Reddy said. He was speaking at a meeting of officials from all civic departments on Saturday. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss measures to improve traffic conditions, widen roads, take decisions on the multi-level parking scheme, laying drinking water lines underground cabling and other civic issues.

An inspection conducted by traffic officials showed that 440 street light poles and 61 transformers were located on main roads, obstructing staff. It would take Rs 1.95 crore to remove them. The ward committees of the corporation will see more women, with the GHMC for the first time reserving half the seats for women. The GHMC plans to hold a training programme to the ward members, headed by the Chief Minister.

With regard to the selection of ward committees, the council has selected 1,473 members for 146 wards, while members for the remaining four are still in progress. Nomination from women from 13 wards had not been received so far.
