Hyderabad: Surprise checks held to end illegal ticket sale

On November 2, a raid was simultaneously organised all over South Central Zone.

Hyderabad: In a move to end illegal ticketing by touts, South Central Railways (SCR) conducted surprise checks in travel agencies through six Railway Police Force (RPF) teams and recovered 57 live e-tickets worth of Rs 1,22,558.17 and 181 used tickets worth Rs 3,39,373.

According to railway officials, they received a tip off that few people were indulged in procuring and selling unauthorised e-tickets through Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) portal.

After this, six special teams headed by inspectors were deployed under the direct supervision of senior officers. These teams have activated source informants and identified the locations on the basis of their IP addresses, user IDs, mobile phones, bank transaction and others. On November 2, a raid was simultaneously organised all over South Central Zone.

It was informed that, during preliminary enquiries, 148 personal user IDs were created by the firms and efforts are on to ascertain the actual number of tickets generated from each IDs.
