Heavy rains likely on Sunday

Fishers are advised not to venture into central parts of the southern Bay of Bengal from Monday.

Thiruvananthapuram: Heavy rainfall of 7 to 11 cm in 24 hours is very likely to occur at one or two places in the state on Sunday and Tuesday as per the predictions of the meteorological department.

A low-pressure area is likely to form over central parts of south Bay of Bengal during Monday. Fishers are advised not to venture into central parts of the southern Bay of Bengal from Monday.

Fairly widespread to widespread rainfall with isolated heavy rain is very likely to occur over Tamilnadu, Kerala and South interior Karnataka till Tuesday and decrease in intensity after that.

During the next few days, rains will be confined to the south coastal stations of the state. Otherwise, mainly light rains will be observed over isolated parts of both the states.

Isolated to scattered rainfall activity is very likely to occur over the rest parts of south peninsular India during the period. During the second week of November, rainfall activity is very likely to increase over extreme southern peninsular India consisting of Tamilnadu and adjoining Rayalaseema and Kerala and normal to above normal rainfall is very likely over the region. However, another cyclonic circulation is seen in the south-central Bay of Bengal. This system is likely to intensify even more and move in the west direction. Therefore, after the next 48 hours, from November 6, rainfall activity will make a comeback over Kerala and Karnataka.
