Finally, Bengaluru gets its Sunny' side up

Her event at Manyata Tech Park passed off peacefully with the police keeping pro-Kannada activists at bay.

BENGALURU: Canada-born Bollywood actress Sunny Leone finally had her date with the city on Saturday, amidst a tight security blanket. Her event at Manyata Tech Park passed off peacefully with the police keeping pro-Kannada activists at bay.

The event, organised by Time Creation, was held at the White Orchid Hotel located inside the tech park on the Outer Ring Road.

It began around 7 pm where Raghu Dixit performed. The Bollywood star reportedly performed three dance numbers during the event. The city police had deployed over 150 personnel from law and order department, with two ACP's, six inspectors and 15 sub-inspectors, as there were threats from pro-Kannada organizations to stall the event. Over 50 traffic police personnel were also deployed near the venue. A police official said the protesters were prevented from making it to the venue.

Sunny Leone reached the venue around 9:15 pm and left around 10 pm and was provided heavy security cover.

Pro-Kannada outfits had threatened to organise a massive protest if Sunny Leone performed at the event. It may be recalled that last year pro-Kannada outfits had issued similar threats against Sunny Leone and the home ministry had revoked permission.
