Bengaluru: He took 23 cars on rent and sold them online
Bengaluru: The West division police have arrested nine people in three separate incidents and solved 21 cases in the city. The police recovered valuables worth Rs 2.4 crore from them.
In the first incident , Jnanabharathi police arrested a 25-year-old man went absconding after renting out 23 cars and a tempo traveller.
The accused, identified as Chetan Kumar from Mandya, has been arrested by the police.
According to the police, on October 23, the victim, Sunil Kumar M had filed a complaint stating that Chetan had approached him and his friends asking them to rent their cars to him.
After gaining their trust, he took their cars on rent for Rs 30,000 per month and went absconding.
The police said that the accused was working as a manager in a travel company happened to meet Sunil. The accused first took four cars for rent from Sunil and for the first two months he paid a monthly rent of Rs 30,000 for each car. But after gaining his trust, he asked him to introduce him to his friends and rented out 19 cars and a tempo.
The police said that he had sold some of the cars and mortgaged the rest. The police have recovered 23 cars and tempo traveler, totally worth Rs 1.5 crore.
In the second incident, K.P. Agrahara police arrested three people who had rented out luxurious cars and sold them in an online e-commerce site.
The accused have been identified as Nazir Ahmed, 30, a resident of K.G. Halli, Imtiyaz, 38, a resident of Davanagere and Emad Khan, a resident of RT Nagar.
According to police, the accused were running a travel agency and rented out luxurious cars, but failed to pay the rent. They posted an advertisement on OLX and sold those rented cars to the prospective buyers and went into hiding.
A case was registered in K.P. Agrahara police station. The police arrested the trio recovered six cars worth Rs 50 lakh from the accused.
The police said that the accused had sold the cars to Adil Ahmed in Shivamogga and Sudhakar in Chennai. The police are on lookout for Adil and Sudhakar, who are currently absconding.
In the third incident, the Chandra Layout police arrested five people for their involvement in robberies, thefts and house thefts. The police recovered 801 grams of gold jewelries, two cars, three two wheelers and two LED TVs, totally worth around Rs 40 lakh.
The accused have been identified as Subramani alias Subbu, 32, hailing from Kolar, Raja alias Catraja, 31 and Srikanth, 26, both from Mandya, Ajay Kumar alias Manu, 32, a resident of Lagere and Girish, 34, a resident of Anekal.
The police said they initially arrested Subramani, Raja and Srikanth and based on the information shared by them they the other two accused were arrested on Friday. With their arrest the police have solved 20 cases in the city.
