ACB snares AMVI again, this time with Rs 50 crore assets assets

The officer is currently posted DTC's office in Vizag and is one of the directors of Sri Gowri Cooperative Society Ltd at Akkayyapalem.

Visakhapatnam: The ACB arrested assistant motor vehicles inspector S. Venkata Rao following raids for possessing disproportionate assets.

The ACB’s Central Investigation Unit that carried out the raids put the document value of the assets at Rs 3 crore but said they could fetch Rs 50 crore at market rates. Apart from cash, the assets included gold and land documents.

Venkata Rao was previously arrested in 2003 while he was working in Srikakulam district for amassing illegal assets of Rs 1.8 crore as per registered value (Rs 18 crore as per market value). The case is still in court.

The officer is currently posted DTC’s office in Vizag and is one of the directors of Sri Gowri Cooperative Society Ltd at Akkayyapalem.

ACB sleuths raided his house at Muralinagar and those of his relatives at Gajuwaka, Akkayyapalem in the city and Adduru, Aripaka and Vijayaramarajupeta in the district.
