Work on Amaravati's first private university starts
GUNTUR: Union minister M. Venkaiah Naidu praised establishment of Amaravati as a global city, saying that it will help Andhra Pradesh develop economically. He predicted that foreign companies, institutions and trade would come to Amaravati in the future.
The Union minister said that every year, nearly 1 lakh educated people migrate to foreign countries from India so education was most important to earn wealth and to develop financially.
“While there is no objection to migrating to foreign countries, they (the immigrants) should serve and develop their motherland as a ‘payback’”, he said.
Mr Venkaiah Naidu, along with AP Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu laid the foundation stone for the VIT University at Ainavolu in the Amaravati capital region on Thursday.
Addressing the public meeting, he praised VIT as a top university in the private sector that was ranked 13th in India.
“Parents used to meet me seeking recommendation for a seat in VIT. Students who studied in this institution are sure to getting employment,” the Union minister said.
The BJP government recently introduced a national education policy, giving priority to public and private partnership, which will provide quality education to all, Venkaiah Naidu claimed.
He lamented the neglect of the mother tongue by the younger generations, and exhorted students to speak in Telugu with their family and friends. “Parents must teach Telugu to their children, explaining the meaning as this would protect the ancient Telugu language,” he said.
